Position Description: Duties: - Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Promotes and maintains positive and effective working relationships and promotes good public relationships as a representative of Licking County Government. Maintain professional ethics in keeping the confidentiality of information and materials.
- Perform vehicle preventative maintenance to Federal, State, Local and LCT regulations, policies, rules and guidelines. Diagnose, select appropriate course of action and perform accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair. Remove, clean, repair, reinstall and adjust vehicle components (e.g. engine emission components, driveline components, electrical/electronic components, brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust, cab, chassis, hydraulics, etc.). Clean vehicles inside and outside as necessary.
- Ensure work orders are completed properly and accurately. Evaluate completed work prior to release- seek approval from Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor where required.
- Perform road calls and emergency services as necessary. Move vehicles safely between job and work area. Operate vehicles under adverse weather conditions.
- Collaborate with Management to ensure the safety of all passengers, drivers and staff. Ensure safe use of power and hand-held tools. Remain current on all Federal, State, Local and LCT safety related requirements. Recognize unusual and/or threatening conditions and take appropriate action. Perform routine custodial tasks to ensure cleanliness and safety of work areas.
- In absence of the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor will advise LCT management and dispatchers of vehicles to have next day work and other daily vehicle changes. Ensure needed vehicles are available for service.
- Monitor and meet preventative maintenance (PM) schedules. Conduct vehicle performance tests and prepare maintenance performance reports. Prepare and maintain all maintenance and repair records.
- Perform maintenance bay and grounds keeping duties as needed, including snow removal and other work in inclement conditions. Monitor and meet preventative maintenance (PM) schedules. Conduct vehicle performance tests and prepare maintenance performance reports. Prepare and maintain all maintenance and repair records. Work in partnership with Management to ensure corrective actions are taken to improve maintenance issues. Assist with Federal, State, Local and LCT maintenance program reviews.
- Perform maintenance bay and grounds keeping duties as needed, including snow removal and other work in inclement conditions.
- Operates a computer to produce a variety of material from rough draft and written or oral instruction; retrieve, verify, maintain and print various documents, records and reports (e.g., correspondence, reports, forms, investigations, etc.). Prepare, distribute, file, update and maintain correspondence, documents, forms, investigations and reports as required.
- Operates transit buses including CDL buses when necessary.
- Maintain and ensure maintenance files are in compliance and meet all federal, state and local regulations.
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable PERRP safety standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position and all agency safety procedures.
- Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; may be required to attend regular staff meetings and seminars/training. Remain current on all certifications and licenses significant to duties.
Brief Description: Summary:Responsible for providing preventative maintenance and diagnose and repair all revenue, non-revenue transit vehicles in Licking County Transit (LCT) fleet as well as other county vehicles presented. Identifies improvements and recommends changes to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor.
Job Prerequisites: Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with vocational / technical training in vehicle and equipment mechanical repair plus a minimum of two (2) years direct automotive repair experience. Transit or medium / heavy duty fleet experience preferred. Vehicle heating ventilation and air conditioning experience preferred.
Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):
Valid Ohio Driver’s License, Valid ASE certification*. Valid CPR and First Aid certification*.
*May be acquired after hire and obtained prior to the end of the probationary period.
Compensation: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
