    Job Summary

    Under guidance of the Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships, the Scholarship Program Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing policy, philosophy, and procedures in administering a comprehensive institutional scholarship application and delivery system. This position will coordinate and collaborate with many internal and external partners to ensure delivery of funds to students, while maintaining integrity and compliance within applicable federal, state, and institutional laws and regulations. Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provides oversight of daily operations for the comprehensive CSULB scholarship application and delivery system, including full functional responsibility for the scholarship administration software system.
    • Oversee the scholarship portfolio for campus-wide scholarship awards; coordinates with campus partners to administer internal and external scholarship programs.
    • Supervise a small team of staff and student assistants to successfully fulfill campus-wide needs affiliated with scholarships.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    Advanced knowledge of financial aid and scholarship programs, policies and procedures. Essential knowledge of financial aid programs, laws, rules and regulations, including need analysis, and calculating the EFC. Experience in organizing work, establishing procedure for completing work and monitoring workflow and workload. Working knowledge of scholarship system software (BlackBaud Award Management-preferred) and on-line student

    information systema (PeopleSoft preferred). Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex projects. Demonstrate ability to perform accurately with heavy workload requirements Demonstrate ability to use effective time management skills in order to prioritize tasks to accomplish goals with established time frames. Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, faculty and peers.

    Ability to deliver high-quality products and services; anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers; committed to continuous improvement. Ability to formulate effective strategies consistent with the business; sees the big picture and holds a long-term perspective; determines objectives and sets priorities; creates a work environment that encourages creative thinking; designs and implements new or cutting-edge programs/processes; recognizes opportunities and takes action to achieve objectives.

    Education and Experience
    • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with upper or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance, human relations, or related fields and three years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.

    Physical Summary

    Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5,595 - $6,195 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,540- $7,893 per month.

    Time Base

    1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

    Duration of Appointment

    This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

    Additional Information

    The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.

    A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSULB will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

    Due to the nature of this position, current CSULB employees are subject to a criminal record check unless they have successfully completed a criminal background check through CSULB within the past 12 months.
