    Monterey County is located on the central coast of California just south of the San Francisco Bay Area, about 45 miles from San Jose and 100 miles from the City of San Francisco. The County is known for its idyllic weather and offers the longest coastline of any county in California. The Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District’s offices are located in the Carmel area, close to the cities of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Seaside, Marina, Sand City, and Del Rey Oaks. The peninsula area has beautiful beaches and parks, outstanding camping and hiking, museums, excellent schools, unique restaurants and shopping, and consistently enjoyable weather. The coastal region, which also includes Carmel Valley, Big Sur, and Pebble Beach, is considered one of the most desirable places to live, not only in the state of California, but the country!

     

    The Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District (MPRPD) is a public agency supported by  local property taxes. The mission of MPRPD is to “acquire and maintain open space in the District for preservation and use, working with partners and the community, for public benefit and enjoyment, and environmental protection.”  The General Manager serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the District, accountable to the Board of Directors and responsible for the enforcement of all District ordinances, policies, and procedures, the conduct of all financial activities, and the efficient economical performance of the District’s operations and programs.

    The MPRPD is seeking a collaborative and composed team builder with a “roll up your sleeves” approach. The ideal candidate is an experienced parks and recreation professional with strong interpersonal skills and who instills customer service values in the organization. Candidates should be knowledgeable generalists with superior leadership and management skills and possess the highest level of personal integrity. The ideal candidate will be passionate about and an advocate for parks, natural resource protection, and recreation in the community.

     

    The annual salary range for the General Manager is $166,000 to $201,774; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
