    Position Summary

    Join the Office of Admissions at San Diego State University as an Admissions Processing Coordinator and play a vital role in supporting prospective students on their path to higher education.     • Data Management: Perform data entry, manage application files, and maintain accurate records.
    • Mail Coordination: Oversee incoming and outgoing mail related to application processing.
    • Applicant Communication: Provide information and resolve inquiries for applicants and university staff.
    • Quality Control: Identify and resolve discrepancies in application materials.

    Position Information
    • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
    • This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
    • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
    • This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.

    Department Summary

    Enrollment Services is comprised of the Office of Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Recruitment, Prospective Student Center, and Communications. Enrollment Services implements SDSU enrollment management policies and provides services to students from their initial point of interest in SDSU to their graduation.

    The Office of Admissions consists of the following areas: First-Year Admissions, Transfer Admissions, Graduate Admissions, Athletics & International Admissions, Admissions Eligibility Unit, First Year Admissions Support, Transfer Admissions Support, Graduate Admissions Support and Enrollment Services Support Unit.

    The function of the Graduate Admissions Support Unit is to provide administrative support services to the Office of Admissions. The unit is responsible for a wide variety of administrative support functions including the processing of admission applications, reconciling application errors, processing mail, transcripts, test scores, scanning and maintaining applicant records.

    Education and Experience

    Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly lean new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

    These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

    Key Qualifications
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Workspace, and general computer and web browser functionality.
    • Experience with document reviews in a high-volume environment.
    • Experience with data entry, database management, reporting, and professional business communication.
    • Experience coordinating administrative support functions for a high school, college, or university admissions and records office.
    • Experience reviewing high school and college transcripts from both U.S. and international institutions preferred.
    • Experience using student information systems, imaging software, and scanning equipment in a higher education setting is preferred.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,864 per month.

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,864 - $6,072 per month.
