    STATE OF NEVADA, OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL1

    DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL, BOARDS AND OPEN GOVERNMENT

    Gross Salary: Up to $135,201.00 Employee/Employer Paid or $115,804.00 Employer Paid (DOE)

    Duty Station: Las Vegas with occasional travel.

    POSITION STATUS: Exempt (FLSA); unclassified position entitled to standard state benefits; serves at the will of the
    Attorney General. Employment contingent upon successful background check.

    POSITION SUMMARY: This attorney position represents multiple Agencies of the State of Nevada including the Board
    of Dispensing Opticians, the Board of Massage Therapy, Real Estate Commission, and State Environmental
    Commission. Primary duties include providing day-to-day advice, preparing administrative prosecutions, and some
    litigation in State and Federal court. The position will also be part of the Open Meeting Law Enforcement Unit.

    Minimum Education And Background: Graduation from accredited law school and licensed in Nevada or eligible
    for limited practice certification. Must possess valid state driver's license at time of appointment.

    Preferred Experience: Preference to those with current or recent experience in reviewing a case and drafting
    appellate briefs and presenting oral arguments. A working knowledge of federal and state criminal/habeas statutes,
    rules of evidence, local court rules and appellate procedure is a plus.

    Skills Required: Must possess strong communication skills, planning, prioritizing, and executing timelines without
    supervision. Must exhibit professionalism, organization, self-motivation, and leadership skills.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Mobility to work in typical office setting, use standard office equipment, and travel. Ability to
    read printed materials and computer screen; to hear and speak to communicate in person and virtually and over the
    telephone; to speak in clear and understandable manner. Reasonable accommodation available for some physical
    demands for otherwise qualified individuals upon request.

    The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

    European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
