    Job Overview

    This primary purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive technical support for all undergraduate and graduate self- support laboratory courses offered in the Biological Sciences Program at CSUSM. Major responsibilities include setting up biology labs; preparing laboratory materials and equipment; directing and training student assistants; routine repair and maintenance of scientific equipment; safe storage, handling, and disposal of material; researching and acquiring laboratory supplies and equipment; maintaining inventory; of equipment and supplies; maintaining living materials; assisting the biology lab coordinator in preparing and tracking orders; and working with Safety, Risk and Sustainability Services (SRS) in maintain laboratory safety requirements in compliance with University, State, and Federal regulations. Because some biological material is sensitive to environmental conditions, the IST II must be available outside of normal working hours when emergencies occur.

    This position will primarily work to support evening and night class labs during the work week.

    This is a full-time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

    Pay, Benefits, and Work Schedule

    Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,608 - $5,421 per month

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,608 - $7,998 per month

    Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected.

    This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

    This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
