This position will be located at the Missouri Geological Survey, 111 Fairgrounds Road, Rolla, MO 65401
Duration of Assignment: Date of hire until end of projects or until 1,000 hours worked.
- Integrate core log and historic mining data into databases as part of MGS/USGS funded critical mineral projects.
- Interpret geologic terminology and symbology.
- Perform geochemical field sampling for a critical mineral mine waste project.
- Use ArcGIS for collection of core locations and mine waste project data.
- Collect samples for geochemical analysis for critical mineral project.
To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:
- Coursework for geology or geology-related degree; comprehension of geologic terminology and concepts.
- Coursework in mineralogy, petrology, and stratigraphy are preferred.
- Knowledge of geologic data field collection methods.
- Experience with ArcGIS and Microsoft Office software are preferred.
- Learning: Use efficient learning techniques to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills; use training, feedback, or other opportunities for self-learning and development.
- Research: Knowledge of the scientific principles, methods, and processes used to conduct a systematic and objective inquiry; including study design, collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; and the reporting of results.
