Full-time position available with the Aviation Department, Safety Division located at 601 Brasilia Ave
Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Develops, implements and updates SMS policies and procedures to maintain FAA compliance and effectiveness of the safety program.
- Monitors safety performance metrics and analyze data to identify trends and hazards.
- Establishes and maintains a comprehensive database of SMS documentation, including risk assessments, reports, and training records.
- Coordinates safety activities and initiatives across both airports in the Kansas City area to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
- Conducts safety risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and oversee their implementation.
- Ensures timely investigation, root cause analysis, and resolution of safety incidents, near-misses, and hazard reports.
- Evaluates escalating situations, apply critical thinking, and coordinate effectively with personnel to maintain safety and operational continuity.
- Collects, interprets, and analyzes safety data to identify trends and improve safety.
- Provides data-driven recommendations to improve processes, reduce risks, and support operational policies.
- Develops and delivers safety training programs for airport staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Promotes a proactive safety culture through communication, education, and awareness campaigns.
- Organizes safety meetings, workshops, and seminars to enhance engagement and knowledge-sharing.
- Hosts airport-wide meetings and other functions to improve and sustain a strong safety culture.
- Assists in the development, testing, and implementation of emergency response plans.
- Reacts calmly and effectively in emergency situations, providing leadership and guidance to ensure safety.
- Participates in emergency drills, debriefs, and audits to enhance readiness and compliance.
- Identifies, plans, and implements mitigations for projects and processes to enhance safety, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
- Conducts root cause analysis of incidents and provide recommendations to address systemic issues.
- Drives process improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve quality, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in airport operations, airport regulatory compliance, or oversight of building and/or construction operations at an airport; OR High School graduation and 6 years of experience airport operations, airport regulatory compliance, or oversight of building and/or construction operations at an airport.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
