Position Summary:
The Department of Food Science and Nutrition at California State University, Fresno invites applications from a diverse group of qualified applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2025. Teaching responsibilities would include undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the Nutritional Science and Dietetics Program and/or related face to face and online undergraduate and graduate courses in the department. The faculty are expected to provide academic and professional/career advising, supervise research projects, theses, and senior projects for undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, develop an externally funded research program, involve student participation in their research, and participate in service activities both within and beyond the campus community as well as involvement in professional organizations. The candidate should have an established research interest in dietetics, nutrition science, or related fields and develop a plan for continuation of research.

Qualifications:
Required Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.):
An earned doctorate (Ph.D or related terminal degree) in Dietetics, Nutritional Science, or closely-related disciplines (including but not limited to educational leadership, biology, biochemistry, community nutrition and public health, food service/organizational/healthcare management, or medical/health education) from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required. Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, for appointment, the doctorate must be completed by August 1, 2025.
Required Experience:
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Demonstrate experience in conducting research related to dietetics and human nutritional sciences, community nutrition and public health, human metabolism regulation, epigenetics, gut microbiome, or environmental nutrition. This should include a publication record and a demonstrated ability to secure external research funding.
Preferred Experience:
Certification as a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist status from the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Experience engaging in service-related activities.

Commensurate with education and experience the anticipated hiring range is $7,400-$7,700 per month for Assistant Professor (12 monthly payments per academic year). The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology offers high quality undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs in the departments of agricultural business; animal sciences and agricultural education; food science and nutrition; industrial technology; plant science; and viticulture and enology.
