Click here to learn about the Public Health Nutrition Services Program THE POSITION As an experienced Public Health Nutritionist, you will work with the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition program which helps low-income pregnant women, mothers with infants, infants and young children eat well, be active, and stay healthy. The WIC program provides client-centered nutrition education, breastfeeding support, healthy food and linkages to health care and other important community resources.
Public Health Nutritionists provide nutritional consultative services with clients; plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate a program of nutrition education services for a target population. Public Health Nutritionists are responsible for providing direct nutrition services for Public Health clients participating in various programs. Public Health Nutritionists initially work under general supervision, progressing to direction as the employee becomes able to independently formulate nutrition education plans, consulting with medical providers and developing strategies for reaching a high-risk population.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university, in nutrition or dietetics. A Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or Public Health or related field is desirable.
Special requirements:Incumbent must possess certification as a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions.
