The Position

Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

This Social Services Program Specialist II will support the Child Care and Development Program (CCDP) in the Southern Nevada Child Care Services Center (CCSC) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The CCSC Specialist-South will support all Las Vegas CCSC activity planning and will provide support, guidance, and resources to community partners and subrecipients; support businesses in addressing the child care needs of their employees; support child care providers with workforce development and recruitment; provide individualized support to identify and implement child care solutions that meet the needs of Southern Nevada businesses; and increase family-centered access to and knowledge of high-quality child care and early childhood education services/resources by representing the Las Vegas CCSC and CCDP at parent and community outreach events, meetings, and conferences. This position requires to be bilingual. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. Skills Required Fluent in Spanish and English.
