This is the Fiscal Manger position.

This is a professional and technical accounting position with work responsibilities to include accounting systems, methods, procedures, reports and the evaluation and interpretation of financial data in accordance with department directives and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). This position will be responsible for applying broad and in-depth knowledge of accounting concepts and principles in the execution of assigned components of the departments accounting operations.

Job Components:

  • Management and supervision of the MVE Accounting System, a legacy system used to process general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and costing transactions.
  • Oversee the fiscal functions within the division with a budget in excess of $25M, including purchasing/procurement, contract management, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed asset inventory and the MVE Store.
  • Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements.
  • Process payroll and prepare journal entries.
  • SAMII approval of Accounts Payable/Receivable documents.
  • Review purchase card packets for payment.
  • Reconcile monthly cash report.
  • Assists in budget preparation and monitoring of revenue and expenditures.
  • Supervision over yearly physical inventory process.
  • Direct supervision of four (4) subordinate staff and indirect supervision of seven (7) additional staff.
  • Provide information for the State of Missouri, Annual Comprehensive Financial Report Fund Summary yearly.
  • Liaison for State Auditors.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Four or more years of experience in accounting, auditing, purchasing, budgeting, fiscal management, or in general management with some fiscal responsibility.

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university that include credit hours in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Public/Business Administration, or related field may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year)

Some positions are eligible for a shift differential of $173.34 semi-monthly, which is provided to employees with shifts that begin on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am, and who work at a 24/7 worksite (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center), or whose work requires regular visits to these locations. If selected for interview, eligibility may be discussed at that time with the hiring manager.
