Position Summary

This position provides administrative support for the day-to-day and long-range operations of the Alumni Relations department, including alumni/customer service, membership processing, data reporting and analytics, data integrity, participation processing, gift acceptance and processing, calendaring, alumni research, and support for donor relations and engagement. The Member Services Analyst must be very organized with attention to detail and have strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work well with others and promote collaboration and communication within the division. This position reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Alumni Services with project work direction from the Lead Alumni Communications and Outreach Officer.

Overall, the Member Services Analyst supports the goals of Alumni Relations and the mission of the Sacramento State Alumni Association, to inspire belonging, create lifelong connections, and amplify pride as a Hornet family through community engagement, communication, and celebration.

FLSA: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: Anticipated hiring at the minimum of the classification range ($4,598 per month)

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Partial telework schedule (1 work from home day per week) may be available after training period, subject to management approval.

Department Information

Operating as an interdependent alumni organization, Alumni Relations (a campus department) and the Sacramento State Alumni Association (a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization), our mission is to connect, engage and celebrate the alumni, students and friends of Sacramento State while building lifelong relationships that support the future of our University.

To accomplish this, we engage volunteer leaders through the Alumni Association Board of Directors, Board Committees, and Alumni Chapters and Networks, in encouraging philanthropic support, supporting the mission of the University and overall striving to create an inclusive community of engaged alumni.

We are responsible for planning and funding engagement programs, alumni recognition/awards events, mixers, reunions, recent graduate activities, student engagement, and alumni communications. In addition to these engagement opportunities, we award scholarships, manage and maintain the Leslie & Anita Harper Alumni Center, solicit programmatic sponsorships and scholarship donations, and support Alumni Association Membership.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Required Qualifications

Computer proficiency with proven ability to use standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), internet search engines, CRM database applications; and other tools to process data and create reports. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations. Highly developed problem-solving skills, with demonstrated sound judgement in identifying issues, evaluating the situation, interpreting and applying policies and procedures, defining objectives, and formulating a recommended plan of action. Experience in maintaining, monitoring, and tracking participation, engagement metrics, communication metrics, and financial support with online payment reconciliations and fund balances; Effective analytical skills with the ability write concise, detailed, and accurate reports Strong verbal and written communication skills Organizational skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines and achieve established goals in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively Ability to deal with confidential matters with tact and sensitivity Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated project management and organizational skills; ability to set priorities and meet deadlines, while balancing multiple projects and maintaining accuracy. Work Schedule Requirements:
Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed. Ability to work off-campus, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree Knowledge of alumni engagement, fundraising and philanthropic principles and practices One to three years of similar experience in a university, not-for-profit, philanthropic or member-based environment, preferably in Alumni Relations or Advancement Services, with demonstrated use of technology solutions. Experience using a complex customer relationship management (CRM) database Experience in gift processing or similar field Experience with AdobeSign, OnBase, and/or other tools Experience with project management systems Experience in using PeopleSoft/CFS/FDW Finance and CMS Human Resource applications Ability to use query tools such as Cognos
