Pay Range: $68,905.00- $89,576.00 annual compensation

A Sr. Account job is available with the City of Fort Worth (Neighborhood Services Department / Administrative Financial Services Division). This division is responsible for overseeing accounting, budgeting, grant management and human resources functions for the department. The Sr. Accountant will play a vital behind-the-scenes role in administering federal and state grant funds that serve low-income communities throughout Fort Worth. The position will be responsible for performing complex financial analysis, perform technical business processes, supervision over procurement staff members and provide ongoing support to resolve accounting issues and ensure that all applicable City financial policies and federal guidelines are followed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting experience.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong financial background with proven knowledge of accounting and auditing for federal and state grant funds.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to research and problem-solve when dealing with financial data, and flexibility of handling a variety of different assignments and deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial modules, Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, Neighborly Software and Questica budgeting system.

The Sr. Accountant job responsibilities include:
  • Perform professional accounting activities including but not limited to preparation of financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, federal and state grant reporting and auditing with appropriate deadlines.
  • Conduct problem resolution of financial management or purchasing issues, closely monitor general ledger accounts, commitments and expenditures to ensure compliance and deadlines are met.
  • Development of annual budgets and preparation of monthly status reports and financial dashboards.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with internal and external team members and partners through excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Supervise and train assigned procurement staff.
  • Super user of software systems used for grants management and financial reporting

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls Page 4 of 4 requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
