Duties Description


Under the supervision of Park administration, the selected candidate duties include but are not limited to:
• Operate and drives a 15-passenger van (Non-CDL) or smaller that continuously transports patrons from the park’s lower-level parking lot to the upper-level parking on a predetermined route and schedule from 6:00AM to 10:30PM, Monday through Sunday including holidays.
• Interact with the public, answer patron questions, and provide courteous customer service.
• Operate a park issued radio and other state equipment to communicate with park administration, park stewards and other shuttle drivers to report disruption of services, or to communicate other needs.
• Comply with agency procedures for safe vehicle operation use including completing vehicle mileage and maintenance logs during each shift.
• Ensure that the shuttle vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned, and organized at all times.
• Ensure that shuttles are properly and thoroughly inspected in accordance with the vehicle inspection checklist before operating each shuttle.
• Communicate and report any mechanical issues with the shuttles to park administration and the Physical Plant Manager.
• Seasonal staff may be asked to assist in other areas of the park as needed and will be expected to perform other duties as assigned.

OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• At least one year of professional experience, preferably in shuttle vehicle driving and operation is preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma preferred.
• Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor and must be able to lift at least 30+ pounds.
• Must be willing to work outdoors year-round and, in all weather, conditions.
• Applicants must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Applicants must be willing to support operational needs and special projects throughout the NYC Region as needed.
