Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of the Dream Success Center (DSC), the incumbent will assist with providing comprehensive and holistic intake, referrals, and linking of services to serve the academic, social, housing, and financial needs of undocumented students. The DSC Admin & Support Coordinator will serve as the "front line" for assisting students who visit the DSC and inquire about services. Incumbent will oversee administrative and fiscal processes that support the daily operations of the center. The incumbent will assist with coordinating events, and other services provided by the DSC. The incumbent will serve as a resource for students, staff, and faculty regarding the services for undocumented students. Additionally, the DSC Admin & Support Coordinator will assist with program, student, and fiscal management support.

Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Administrative Support - Serve as the initial point of contact for the Dream Success Center and provide front-line customer service to students, staff, faculty, parents, community members, and the campus community. This position assists with the full range of administrative support functions performed in the department.
  • Program Support - Assist with coordinating the programming to serve undocumented students and mixed-status students. Support by coordinating the planning and execution of the Dream Success Center’s Butterfly Peer Mentoring Program.
  • Fiscal Coordinator and Operational Duties - Prepare monthly and year-end account reconciliation to be used in financial assessment and budget process. Monitor office expenditures and perform all aspects of office procurement (research, obtain quotes, review specs, work with Purchasing Office and vendors regarding contracts, place requisition, initiate purchase order and follow.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Ability to plan and coordinate diversity, equity, and inclusion events, programs, and activities highly preferred. Ability to speak, lead and professionally present in public. Experience giving presentations in a variety of frameworks and content areas. Ability to exercise sound time management skills and control of projects and work pro-actively to mitigate delays, budget problems and any additional complication that may jeopardize programming and/or events. Ability to be collaborative and build community to foster an inclusive environment. Ability to maintain equanimity during emergencies and resistance from clients including the ability to mediate conflict effectively.

Experience working with immigrant and diverse communities. Excellent communication skills both written and orally to communicate effectively. Ability to contribute to the development of a strong sense of community and positive campus climate. Ability to manage and mediate conflict effectively. Committed to and has a thorough understanding of issues of diversity, inclusion, and social justice in higher education. Proficiency in using technology, including social media. Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and communicate clearly and effectively with students, staff, faculty, peers, administrators, campus and University personnel, clients, state officials, vendors, professionals, management, etc.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Equivalent to four years of administrative support experience required.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $3,864 - $4,970 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,864 - $6,072 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
