The Position

Accountants are responsible for preparing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

Accountants perform essential financial and accounting functions to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations within an organization. They handle the preparation, analysis, and verification of financial documents to provide essential insights and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

The State Treasurer's Office is recruiting for an Accountant II in Carson City. Under the supervision of the Deputy Treasurer, the Accountant II will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions such as wire transfers and journal vouchers. The incumbent will also be responsible for preparing financial statements, performing reconciliations, and supporting budget planning activities. This role requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Some tasks may include, but are not limited to, fund reconciliations, preparation of financial statements, processing cash and wire transactions, coordinating annual audit processes, handling fund distributions, managing interagency requests, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. The typical work schedule is Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting and one year of experience performing professional accounting work; OR a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or related field which included 18 credits in accounting and two years of experience performing professional accounting work; OR one year of experience as an Accountant I in Nevada State service and 18 college credits in accounting. Special Notes The required 18 college credits in accounting must include 6 credits of beginning accounting, 6 credits of intermediate accounting, and 6 credits of upper-division accounting courses.
