ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Justice Court- Las Vegas Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Manager Departmental Business Technology position. This position plans, organizes, and administers the technological and related operational functions of a department, directs a variety of analytical, technical and interdepartmental coordination activities, performs project management and is responsible for a variety of analytical, technical and interdepartmental coordination activities. This position will also be responsible for overseeing and performing managerial and operational analyses/functions, and other duties as required.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration, Computer Science or a field related to the work AND five (5) years of full-time professional level experience in system design and development, acquisition, project management, or similar technology experience or experience directly related to the department support, including two (2) years of which were in a supervisory/management role. Equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of professional, technical support and operational staff.
  • Recommends selection of staff; trains staff and provides for their professional development; administers discipline as required.
  • Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the division; prepares and administers the division's budget.
  • Participates in long and short-term departmental strategic planning; maintains performance measurements toward meeting objectives of the departmental strategic plan.
  • Maintains current knowledge of hardware and software options; recommends modifications and upgrades to management staff to improve effectiveness and efficiency of operation.
  • Oversees information technology business application projects within the department; serves as a department liaison to the central IT organization for planning, information sharing, solutioning, and production support needs from central IT; sets priorities and timelines and ensures that projects meet customer requirements.
  • Oversees the work of consultants who are contracted to perform business application enhancement and maintenance activities; negotiates and develops contracts for professional services.
  • Determines the standard approaches, funding requirements, project management techniques and appropriate methodology for technology enhancement and maintenance projects.
  • Ensures that quality assurance and security elements are incorporated into the projects.
  • Provides project reporting and customer communication on all phases of project activity.
  • Contributes to the overall quality of the department’s service delivery. by reviewing, recommending, and implementing improved policies and procedures.
  • Interacts with the other Division Managers of the department to ensure smooth and efficient customer service delivery of all products and services.
  • Maintains accurate records and files; prepares user instructions, documentation, correspondence, and a variety of written materials.
  • Uses standard office equipment in the course of the work; may drive a motor vehicle or arrange for appropriate transportation in order to attend off-site meetings and visit various work sites.
