The Position

Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.

Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

The Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) in Carson City, Nevada is hiring for an Accounting Assistant 3. This position will provide oversight to the Division's policies and procedures regarding subgrants, master service agreements (MSA), and work orders in accordance with NRS, NAC, SAM and the policies and procedures of the Division. This position will assist the Division Contract/Lease Manager, with lease negotiations as needed; process and review leases for accuracy; address long-term maintenance issues; and forecast future space needs. When directed, this position will act as the division representative when working with division personnel, lessors, Risk Management and the Public Works Division for issues that cannot be resolved at the division level. This position will also assist the contract manager by providing oversight to Division's policies and procedures regarding procurement/solicitations and contractual agreements, in accordance with NRS, NAC, and SAM. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track, organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial data to prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
