Job Description

TPWD MISSION

To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the Assistant Park Superintendent, this position performs highly complex (senior-level) administrative support work including the coordination and management of the daily business operations of Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Manages park headquarters operations team, including ensuring high levels of customer service and accurate revenue collection by staff and volunteers. Duties include preparing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Distributes information through e-mails, fax, mail, and by phone. Organizes and maintains files, including personnel records and park correspondence. Provides customer service to include computer camper registration, selling permits, and licenses. Prepares reports as required by the Regional office and Austin headquarters. Maintains office supplies and inventories and prepares reports on related office procedures. Provides information and interprets park resources to visitors when opportunities arise. Trains employees and volunteers in all facets of park office operations, ensuring accurate revenue collection and high levels of customer service. Works under limited supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.


Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Graduation from High School or GED.

Experience:

Four years experience performing administrative support duties.

Licensure:

Applicant must possess a valid State driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

Three years experience leading a team.

Three years experience with personal computers, including Microsoft Office word processing and spreadsheet software.

Experience in basic accounting, revenue collection, record keeping and preparing correspondence and reports.

Experience in customer service and public relations.

Experience in training and supervising employees and/or volunteers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

WORKING CONDITIONS

Required to work in a high visitation park with overnight camping and extensive day use;

Required to work 40 hours per week, includes various schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays;

May be required to operate a State vehicle;

Required to travel 10% with possible overnight stays;

Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures;

Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
