The position is responsible for the enforcement of ordinances, state and federal statutes, and other regulations for which the Police Department is responsible. Police Officers are routinely assigned to perform duties in patrol, investigations, drug enforcement, or youth services. The department practices a community-based policing operation. All officers are expected to be able to perform a wide range of duties. An incumbent in this position may be designated "Master Police Officer."
