M-36, Whitmore Lake, MI 48189Women's Huron Valley Correctional Facility (WHV) – 3201 Bemis Road, Ypsilanti, MI 48197‑0911ResponsibilitiesOversee and participate in the custody, security, and treatment of prisoners.Participate in daily operations at a correctional facility.Attend and complete required training programs, including an 8‑week academy and two months of on‑the‑job training.Maintain ongoing certification through annual training and continuing education.Qualifications & RequirementsMinimum of 15 semester (23 term) college credits in any field.For veterans: Joint Services Transcript accepted; DD‑214 may be required for verification.At least 8 years of experience as a Corrections Officer or Corrections Medical Officer, or the equivalent educational or experiential waiver as outlined below.Age 18 or older.Successful completion of a post‑offer medical exam, drug screen, and physical fitness test.Strong ethical standards; compliance with background investigation and a high degree of loyalty.Alternate Education & Experience WaiversEducation Waiver – Employees with fewer than 15 semester credits may obtain credits within 24 months of hire.Full‑time experience waiver – Two years of prior corrections officer experience in any correctional institution.Military training waiver – Successful completion of basic training in uniformed services.Required DocumentsOfficial college transcript (must be sealed, with registrar's signature and date, and scanned in pdf, doc, docx, txt, or rft).DD‑214 (or equivalent) for each tour of service.Military certification or Joint Services Transcript.Documentation of any prior corrections officer experience within the state or federal system.Contact & ApplicationsGeneral questions about Recruitment Office: 517‑335‑1874.
