This exam is for the purpose of establishing a certified list of candidates for a current vacancy and future employment as a Corrections Officer in the Sheriff's Office. The eligibility of successful candidates shall remain in effect for one year. Starting salary: Entry Level at Step 1, $4,221.16/month.; Laterals at Step 2, $4,335.67/month. to Step 4, $4,596.79/month., DOE.Examination Schedule Proctored Exams: Exams will be proctored through Public Safety Testing, and you will have to schedule with them at www.publicsafetytesting.com. Under ‘For Candidates' there is a tab for test requirements and another one for study material if you would like. You have to pass both the physical exam and the written exam to be considered for employment.Physical Exam The exam will include 15 push-ups in 90 seconds, 12 sit-ups for 90 seconds, and 25 squat thrusts in three minutes. If you do not pass the PAT, you are eligible to retest all events on another day. PAT must be successfully completed within 180 days of the written exam.Written Exam This test will include deductive reasoning, flexibility of closure, inductive reasoning, information order, spatial orientation, and a few other requirements. The time allowed for the exam is 3.5 hours, once you complete your test registration process, you will be provided a free introduction test guide to review before your test.General Minimum Qualifications Summary Be a citizen of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, or a deferred action for childhood arrivals recipient (RCW 41.14.100) at the time of appointment.Speak, read, write, and spell clearly in English.Have a high school diploma or equivalent.Be at least 18 years old (21 for roles such as Deputy, Court Security Officer, or Jailer).Pass a polygraph exam assessing legal and ethical conduct.Complete a psychological evaluation to determine job suitability.Participate in a background investigation to assess fitness for the role.Application Deadline Open - Monday through Thursday by 4:00 pm, in person at 625 W. 4th St. Newport, WA., or via mail (Civil Service, PO BOX 5060, Newport, WA 99156).
