  • Assist in determining what additional traffic data is needed to perform the below work functions (we have the 2010 Navajo Nation Regional Transportation Plan)
  • Prepare the transportation portions of the affected environment (i.e., baseline conditions) and environmental consequences(i.e., impacts) sections of the EA for demolition activity at the Shiprock site as well as the transportation of the material from the demolition site to the various disposal facilities.
  • Analyze potential impacts to local and regional transportation routes from construction-related traffic and calculate additional traffic anticipated to be generated at the site.
  • Analyze potential impacts to traffic routes from the evaporation pond site to all disposal facilities (i.e., level of service increases, traffic volumes, preferred traffic routes, etc.)
  • Assess accident risk (injuries and fatalities) from transporting RRM and non-RRM from Shiprock to disposal facilities (some disposal facilities may be as far as 470 miles away and will cross state lines.
  • Additional analysis may be required once the full scope of the project is determined.
  • Assist NEPA project manager with addressing public, agency, and tribal comments on transportation analysis and be able to adequately explain calculation source data, methods, and results.
  • Provide technical support and attend NEPA public meetings, if necessary.
  • Participate in monthly meetings (1 hour in length) to provide project updates with extended project team.
  • Provide weekly updates to the NEPA project manager.
  • Additional analysis may be required once the full scope of the project is determined.
