The Certified ED Tech-Paramedic assists medical and nursing staff with a variety of procedures in an emergency setting under applicable scope of practice based on certification.Minimum QualificationsEDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:High School Diploma or equivalent.State board certification: OH: Certified Paramedic through Ohio Emergency Medical Services; WV: Certified Paramedic through West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services.Current Paramedic Certification through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) (unless WV license is State License Only) (SLO).Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.Preferred QualificationsEDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).Two (2) years of college in an applicable course of study (nursing, biology, physical therapy, or sports medicine).ExperienceTwo (2) years' experience in an Emergency Department or pre-hospital setting.CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Other duties may be assigned.Perform emergency medical services in accordance with the following conditions: Hospital Emergency Department, while moving a patient between the ED and another part of the hospital, only under the direction and supervision of physician, physician assistant designated by a physician, or an RN designated by a physician. Services cannot be performed outside the scope of certificate to practice.Observe and report all patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.Assist the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.Record the vital signs, assist in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
