Transit Dispatcher I

Salary Range: N/A

Position Salary: 3,748.00 USD Monthly

Location: Transportation Agency

Civil Service or Non Civil Service: Non Civil Service

Job Summary: Performs entry-level dispatching duties for the County's Transportation Agency; operates a radio-telephone communication system; receives and transmits messages; dispatches transit personnel, materials, and/or equipment in response to service requests or emergencies; performs clerical tasks related to transit operations and performs other related duties as required.

Examples of Duties:

  • Operates a radio-telephone communication system to receive and transmit messages for public transportation and paratransit services;
  • Dispatches transit personnel, materials, and equipment in response to service requests and emergencies;
  • Monitors and logs the status and location of transit vehicles and personnel;
  • Assists in coordinating the scheduling of trip reservations for public transportation and paratransit services;
  • Prepares and maintains basic records and reports on transit operations;
  • Answers inquiries from the public and provides information or refers to the appropriate authority;
  • Assists in maintaining various files and records related to transit operations, such as vehicle and equipment logs, work orders, and time and leave records;
  • Prepares routine letters and documents;
  • Conducts periodic physical inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment; and
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications: Training and Experience Preferred: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school; and

  • Three and one half (3 ½) years of work experience which included one (1) or a combination of the following: public contact, customer service, clerical duties, radio telephone or telephone switchboard operation, or dispatching.

Work Shift/ Schedule: 7 days/week operation; shift work (United States of America)
