Conducts overt and covert criminal investigations of persons suspected of violating criminal narcotic laws and build prosecutable cases for state and federal prosecutors. The Narcotics Detective must maintain a good working relationship with local and federal law enforcement agencies.Minimum QualificationsMust be at least 21 years of age at the time of application with a high school diploma or equivalent GED certification or equivalent and possess a valid driver's license. Must be a Certified Peace Office recognized by the State of Louisiana.Two (2) years Law enforcement experienceMiscellaneous InformationThis position requires the physical dexterity needed to type in a proficient manner. Must possess the skills necessary to safely operate a motor vehicle. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to read and interpret various documents. Must be able to observe and recall details from interactions. Must be able to analyze situations quickly and objectively. Must possess the ability to learn new skills and stay current with changes.Requires physical agility and strength to perform the essential functions of the job. The ability to run, walk, jump, sit, bend, climb, crawl, reach, pull, twist, etc. is required. Must have clear vision and hand-eye coordination, including the ability to grip with the fingers and hands.Salary / BenefitsThe salary for this position is determined by the agency salary table.Postsecondary education and Law enforcement experience will be taken under consideration in respect to compensation.Eligible for paid overtimeEmployer paid Health, Vision, Dental and Life insurance for full time employeesVacation and Sick time after 1 year of continuous employmentEligible for additional leave when scheduled on an office holidayLong term job stability and potential for growth and career advancementImportant informationThere is no guarantee that everyone who applies to this posting will be interviewed.
