This vital role ensures the safety of our community's children by assisting them across busy intersections on their way to and from school. If you are looking for a rewarding, part-time opportunity to make a direct impact on child safety, we want to hear from you!Schedule & CompensationPay Rate: $17.00 per hourHours: 2 hours daily, Monday through Friday (split shift covering mornings and afternoons).Calendar: Schedule aligns directly with the Schoolcraft Public Schools calendar (August through June).Note: This is a seasonal position and is not eligible for benefits or paid time off.Essential Duties & Job FunctionsTraffic and Pedestrian Control: Direct the actions of children and traffic at street intersections to ensure safe crossing; signal and gesture to traffic in a distinct, decisive, and understandable manner.Safety & Guidance: Escort children safely across the street and train them to cross intersections in an orderly, efficient manner.Crowd Control: Maintain the flow of children at intersections to prevent loitering.Reporting & Vigilance: Identify and report vehicles disregarding traffic signals to the police; report any suspicious vehicles or individuals to the Police Department.Equipment Setup: Place caution signs at designated points before going on duty and remove them at the end of each shift.Other Duties: Perform related tasks as required to maintain a safe environment.Required Minimum QualificationsAge/Education: Must be at least 18 years of age with a High School diploma or equivalent.Transportation: Reliable transportation to your assigned post.Screening: Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and an annual physical examination.Communication & Service: Excellent customer service skills, including ability to respond diplomatically to questions or complaints.
