Day‑to‑day tasks include conducting counts and inspections, performing security checks and searches, responding to emergencies and incidents, and completing required reports and documentation. The role also involves supporting rehabilitative and educational programs, facilitating movement within the facility, and communicating clearly and professionally with colleagues, incarcerated individuals, and other stakeholders. Correctional Officers are expected to follow departmental policies, uphold ethical standards, and contribute to a respectful, secure, and professional environment.QualificationsKnowledge of criminal justice principles and correctional or law enforcement practices, including relevant laws, regulations, and institutional policies.Physical security skills, including facility security procedures, control of access points, searches, safety protocols, and effective response to emergencies.Supervisory and leadership abilities to oversee incarcerated individuals, manage group activities, de‑escalate conflicts, and maintain order.Training aptitude to learn and apply departmental procedures, participate in ongoing professional development, and support peer or on‑the‑job training as needed.Strong communication, interpersonal, and report‑writing skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations and work effectively in a team environment.Ability to meet physical fitness and medical standards, work shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays), and remain calm and decisive under pressure.High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or coursework in criminal justice, psychology, social services, or a related field is beneficial.Prior experience in corrections, law enforcement, military service, or security is preferred but not required; willingness to complete required academy and in‑service training is essential.#J-18808-Ljbffr
