The Jackson County Sheriff seeks an experienced law enforcement officer to work security for the Jackson County Courthouse. This is a casual postion with on-call availability. Position Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Current/former certified law enforcement officer, current/former corrections officer, current or former reserve police officer, or currently enrolled or graduate of a criminal justice program is preferred.
Other Requirements: CPR certification, first aid knowledge, firearm proficiency if carrying a firearm, able to be certified in the use of pressure points and control tactics, proficient in the use of handcuffing, possess the ability to de-escalate volatile situations, possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of a Sergeant or other command officer, Court Security is responsible for searching/screening all citizens entering the Jackson County Court houses (S. Jackson/Lansing Ave), observes building activities both visually and with the use of security monitors, and performs a variety of activities related to the safety and security of the Courthouse. May be called upon to enforce court orders and perform other law enforcement functions under direction of a certified law enforcement officer or command.
