It provides real-world experience during final 180 days of active duty. The intern will train on meaningful projects, work closely with a mentor and senior leadership. Newport News Shipbuilding internship programs focus on placing transitioning military into internships requiring KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could seamlessly transition to a full-time permanent position with NNS.ResponsibilitiesDevelops and administers security programs and procedures for classified or proprietary materials, documents, and equipment.Studies and implements federal security regulations that apply to company operations.Obtains rulings, interpretations, and acceptable deviations for compliance with regulations from government agencies.Prepares manuals outlining regulations, and establishes procedures for handling, storing, and keeping records, and for granting personnel and visitors access to restricted records and materials.Conducts security education classes and security audits.Investigates security violations and prepares reports specifying preventive action to be taken.QualificationsActive-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service.Transitioning Military candidates can begin applying within final 12 months of military service.Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction.Additional CriteriaMust be a U.S. citizen.Equal Opportunity StatementAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, physical or mental disability, age, or veteran status or any other basis protected by federal, state, or local law.
