GENERAL NATURE OF WORK
This is skilled and unskilled work in the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, and other related County facilities. An employee in this class is responsible for the safe operation of equipment and tools used for performing various construction and maintenance operations. Generally works as part of a crew but may be assigned to work alone. Duties are performed under standard supervision

Requirements
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 18 years of age. Must possess a valid driver's license in this classification.
- Must furnish within 6 months of appointment that he or she holds a valid Class B Commercial driver's license and maintain said license while in this classification.
- Within one year of employment in this job Classification, the employee must complete and maintain the following certifications: CPR/AED Certification, Snow and Ice Training, Certified Traffic Control/Flagger under MUTCD Standards Current Edition, and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies and be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- Must be able to lift (80) pounds or more to a height of four (4) feet or more.
- Must be able to work extended periods of time using heavy duty powered hand tools such as chain saws, weed eaters, compaction equipment, jack hammers, etc. or to use hand tools such as hammers, shovels, rakes, etc.
- Must be able to work extended hours in weather conditions which may range from extreme heat to extreme cold and which frequently may be inclement.
- Must be able to work at heights of twenty (20) feet or more.
- Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Eye sight must correctable to 20/20 vision.
- Hearing must be within normal acceptable range of 20-25 with or without a hearing aid.
