    Firefighter/EMT

    Under the direction of the Fire Chief or Fire Captain, or Fire Lieutenant, performs routine duties in establishing emergency readiness and providing emergency response capability including serving as driver-operator of all apparatus at the Airport.

    Responsibilities

    • Drive and operate emergency response vehicles during emergency incidents. Operate fire pumps and associated suppression equipment required to control an incident.
    • Perform rescue, firefighting, and salvage duties at emergencies
    • Assist visitors by providing information and direction necessary to maintain an effective working relationship at the Airport
    • Maintain fire apparatus and equipment in good working condition
    • Report to the fire Battalion Chief/Lieutenant during emergency situations
    • Select proper firefighting tools and equipment to control and extinguish fires
    • Perform search and rescue operations, as necessary
    • Utilize appropriate safety equipment, remove hazards, and assist in determining corrective action
    • Provide emergency medical care during emergencies
    • Perform extrication operations to free individuals trapped in equipment, vehicles, elevators, or structures
    • Perform inspections of Airport aprons, taxiways, runways, buildings, and structures for the fire hazards and make recommendations on the elimination of such hazards
    • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs to emergency response equipment. Record all pertinent information regarding inspections and maintenance
    • Participate in continuous training programs to ensure the total annual credits required by the OHDPS Council are met and to improve the EMT's self-confidence in skills that coincide with the ever-changing pre-hospital setting
    • May be required to assume a position in the Incident Command System
    • Assist in development and delivering training sessions, as assigned
    • Maintain station and surrounding areas in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Must be a United States citizen or provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
    • Must have a telephone and transportation
    • Must maintain minimum training requirements established by 14 CFR Part 139 (Subpart D), FAA AC 150/5210-17 "Programs for Training of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Personnel"
    • Current certification in CPR
    • Ohio/IFSAC certified Firefighter II
    • Ohio/OFSAC certified Hazardous Materials-Operations level
    • Ohio certified Emergency Medical Technician
    • Certified in National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) courses 100, 200, 700 and 800, and any other courses required in the future
    • Current State of Ohio driver's license
    • Must be in excellent physical condition and pass an annual physical exam by a licensed medical doctor
    • Pass an annual written, skills, and physical agility test
    • Must understand English, verbal and written comprehension
    • Must have working knowledge of Windows-based computers and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point programs
    • Must demonstrate good character appropriate to the requirements of the job
    • Must present an appearance consistent with other employee standards or as determined by CRAA
    • Must meet and maintain compliance with the criminal history requirements of 49 CFR 1542.209 and meet the access badge approval requirements as stipulated by the Airport Security Coordinator (ASC). These requirements are maintained in the Authority's ID Office Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Continuously demonstrate the ability to work independently and be a team player
    • Must meet or exceed prerequisites established by Ohio statutes.
