    Job Responsibilities

    • Under limited supervision, provide assistance to the Warden of an adult male medium/maximum security institution to ensure instructions and directives are implemented.
    • Responsible to the Warden in the areas of medical, education, maintenance, cafeteria, business, horticulture, prison industries, recreation, religious activities, mail room, commissary, canteen and human services.
    • Dually supervise one administrative assistant and one administrative specialist.
    • Working hours will vary.
    • On Call.
    Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

    Minimum and Additional Requirements
    State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
    A bachelor's degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
    SCDC Minimum Requirements:
    • A high diploma and ten (10) years' experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, which must Include five (5) years of supervisory experience in a correctional environment.
    • A bachelor's degree may substitute for 4 years of overall experience.
    • Associate degree may substitute for 2 years of overall experience.
    • No substitutions for supervisory experience.
    • Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
