    Job Overview Design, develop, and oversee the implementation of fire protection systems for X‑energy nuclear power plants, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry codes.Responsibilities Develop system‑architecture concepts and detailed design for detection, suppression, passive barriers, smoke control, and water supply.Perform fire‑hazard, smoke‑control, hydraulic, and thermal/structural analyses to validate system performance.Create and maintain CAD models and engineering documentation (hazard analyses, design basis documents, charts, drawings).Conduct independent reviews of engineering deliverables and support acceptance of procured items.Coordinate with stakeholders and systems engineers to identify applicable codes (NFPA 804/805, 10 CFR 50 Appendix R, RG1.189) and ensure technical integration.Lead external engineering partners and manage procurement of materials, equipment, and services.Document and mitigate risks, develop compliance plans, and provide consultative support to operations and maintenance.Design and perform system testing, inspections, and audits to verify fire‑protection effectiveness.Apply systems‑engineering and quality‑assurance processes throughout the project life cycle.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline from an ABET‑accredited university.Minimum ten years of mechanical‑engineering experience for senior levels (LevelIV: 10years; LevelV: 15years; LevelVI: 20years), or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.Proven experience with fire‑protection system design, including sprinklers, detection systems, barriers, smoke control, and fire‑water supply.Knowledge of NFPA codes, 10CFR50 AppendixR, RG1.189, and the International Building Code.Experience with fire‑modeling computer codes and analysis tools.Strong understanding of systems‑engineering processes, nuclear‑safety requirements, and quality‑assurance procedures.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Work Site & Travel Location: 530GaitherRoad, Rockville,MD.
