    HDR is currently looking for a leader for their Traffic team in Oregon. The Oregon traffic team is high functioning and spread across offices including in Portland, Salem, and Bend. The Oregon Traffic Engineering Business Class Leader will collaborate with the Global Director of Traffic Engineering, Traffic Operations and Traffic Design section managers, project managers, local and national subject matter experts, business development and marketing teams to support the growth and development of our multimodal transportation practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills to oversee the traffic engineering practice in the Oregon Area while providing guidance and mentorship to junior, mid-level, and senior planners and engineers.

    In this role, we'll count on you to:

    • Serve as a key member of the Traffic Engineering Business Class and be responsible for business development, pursuit management, and management of transportation planning and/or traffic engineering projects of all sizes and complexities.
    • Lead projects and pursuit efforts for clients within the Oregon area including state DOTs, MPOs, Counties, and Municipalities.
    • Manage a group consisting of transportation engineers and related professionals, in close coordination with the Area Transportation Leadership.
    • Take responsibility for the coordination, mentoring and development of area traffic staff, including morale, career development, and production of quality deliverables to meet client needs and market drivers.
    • Coordinate with National and Pacific Northwest Region Traffic Engineering Business Class leads to support transportation planning and traffic engineering pursuits in the Northwest region including Washington, Montana, Idaho, and Alaska.
    • Function as a Project Manager; be responsible for maintaining project scopes/schedules/budgets, and take on responsibility for production-level activities as needed.
    • Collaborate with HDR's Transportation Practice Groups to bring industry leading service to the Oregon Area.
    • Implement the Oregon Business Group vision at a statewide, county, and municipal level.
    • Engage in high profile project pursuits involving extensive client interactions in coordination with the Oregon Area Business Development Leader.
    • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multi-disciplinary transportation projects including, but not limited to the design of traffic signals, traffic operations, traffic control, detours, traffic management plans, signing and striping.
    • Lead scope, schedule and budget development and execution in conjunction with appropriate technical professionals in multiple transportation disciplines.
    • Understand local staff skill sets, including in other business classes, and leverage appropriate teams for project delivery.
    • Coordinate closely with other Oregon Area Business Classes (e.g., Planning, Roadway, Environmental) and provide support for cross-discipline projects and pursuits as needed.
    • Provide ongoing project management and production-level support to other HDR Areas as needed.
    • Coordinate with Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning Leadership in other Areas to proactively balance workloads as needed.
    • Actively drive open communication of current/projected production needs and collaborate with management to influence staffing and expertise levels.
    • Coordinate project staffing and workload management of the area traffic group; coordinate for regional workload planning/balancing/workshare opportunities as needed.
    • Participate in and provide input to the Strategic Planning process in collaboration with Area, Regional, National, and Global leadership.
    • Collaborate with Transportation Leadership for recruiting and hiring.
    • Perform other duties as needed.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand
    • Master's degree in Engineering, or related discipline is preferred
    • Highly collaborative with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
    • Subject matter expertise in transportation planning, traffic operations, traffic design or traffic safety.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
    • 10 years of experience
    • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
    • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
    • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
    • Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
    • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
