    Senior Confidential Assistant

    The mission of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is to foster strong communities by supporting access to quality, affordable housing, expanding the housing supply, and unlocking homeownership opportunities for the American people. The Department is committed to furthering the promise of self-sufficiency in every American while promoting economic development to revitalize rural, tribal, and urban communities across the country. This position is located in the Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD). CPD seeks to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expand economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons. The primary means toward this end is the development of partnerships among all levels of government and the private sector, including for-profit and non-profit organizations.

    As a Senior Confidential Assistant, you will:

    • The incumbent serves as a Senior Advisor in CPD. In this capacity, the incumbent advises CPD leadership, including the Assistant Secretary, General Deputy Assistant Secretary, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary, with respect to CPD programs.
    • The incumbent of this position has broad responsibilities in advising on the management of program progress for all aspects of CPD programs. Acts as a personal representative to CPD leadership, undertaking a wide variety of sensitive, controversial and high-profile assignments. Such duties may cross the functional and organizational boundaries and deal with the fullest range of issues and concerns of the CPD leadership and field offices.
