    Job Description

    Maintain a secure and safe learning and working environment for students and staff at their school sites. Security Resource Person will be utilized as a crime deterrent and or as a crime prevention function.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Complies with the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession; upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives, regulations, GISD school board policies, as well as local, state and federal regulations. Checks all vehicles entering facilities for propervehicle registration, signs in vehicle as required, and maintains daily vehicle registration log. Directs all visitors to the main office. Will stop any act of violence or any violation of school or district rules and regulations committed in their presence or if they are notified of the violation at the time it is being committed. May and will detain and escort students and adults to a higher authority for action to be taken on any violation of school or district rules and regulations or a criminal act. Will patrol all areas of their prospective school sites and be on an ever-constant state of readiness to ensure that all violations of the law and school regulations are prevented before they occur. Will stop any violation as soon as possible after it has begun. Patrols faculty and student parking areas. Patrols high-risk areas as assigned. Responds to and secures all student altercations and emergency situations. Maintains a daily security officer activities log. Prepares incident reports on all criminal or disruptive incidents which may occur. Performs on campus traffic control during peak periods of traffic flow. Will work extra curricular activities such as sports, band concerts, car shows, bond fires, etc. at their school sites, when required (Districtwide). Will assist with the compliance of the Safe School Plan. Will identify and report hazardous issues via the site work order procedure. Will forward the Smartfinder absence confirmation to the Security Supervisor and Campus Administrator. Performs other duties as assigned.

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • Three to six months related experience or security related training (preferred)
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Supplemental Information

    LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees of organization. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
