If you love to solve problems, assist clients in emerging technologies, or simply drive meaningful change for clients, there's a place for you at Lodestar Consulting!ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with Government PoCs to perform audit response, audit remediation, internal controls, financial processes, and/or accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statements of Federal Financial Accounting Standards (SFFAS), and/or relevant Department of the Treasury and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) policiesExecute day-to-day research, analysis, and communication at the direct of team leads and managersDemonstrate excellent writing and communication skills as significant time is spent drafting/updating communication artifacts (for example, Standard Operating Procedures, Desktop Guides, whitepapers, etc)Understand the end-to-end business processes of the Department of the Air Force and applying relevant GAAPDemonstrate awareness and knowledge of Federal Government's financial and management responsibilitiesReview policies, procedures, and internal controls to identify gaps and assist in drafting updates or process improvements under direction of senior team membersContribute to preparing status reports, ensuring audit trails are complete, and coordinating with stakeholders to verify that remediation steps are fully implemented and properly documentedBuild and maintain relationships and communicate with key client personnel to understand business operations, processes, systems, and functionsDraft and prepare project deliverablesPerform reconciliations and other financial analysesPerform risk assessments in accordance with OMB Circular A-123 and the FIAR GuidanceAudit Remediation:Analyze audit findings, validate corrective-action plans, identify root-cause issues, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure all remediation steps are fully implemented and properly documentedFinancial Reporting:Develop sections of the Agency Financial Report (AFR), support other federal financial‑reporting requirements, and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial statements and disclosuresData Analytics:Lead the design and execution of data driven solutions to improve financial management performanceDevelop dashboards, predictive models, and trend analyses to support decision making, identify risks, and optimize resource allocationEnsure data integrity, interprets complex datasets, and translates insights into actionable recommendations for leadershipAcross all areas, analysts will manage progress reporting, set priorities, and mentor staff to enhance organizational performance, improve financial management practices, and maintain strong governance standardsRequired Experience/SkillsMinimum 1+ years of accounting and/or audit experienceProficient skills in MS ExcelExcellent verbal and written communication skillsRequirementsBA/BS degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting or Business Administration with a major in AccountingWillingness to obtain Relevant Certifications: CPA (or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam), Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM), or other relevant certificationSecurity ClearanceMust have (or the ability to obtain) a DoD Secret clearance (requires US citizenship)Salary commensurate with experience. Travel and relocation expenses may be considered based on the appropriate candidate.
