    This position exists to provide fire protection and related services to personnel and resources of Miller Army Airfield Camp Ripley National Guard Base and the surrounding communities.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Must be IFSAC certified as Firefighter I & II

    • Must be IFSAC certified in Hazardous Materials

    • Must be certified as an Emergency Medical Responder.

    • Must possess a current/valid driver's license.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Ability to obtain National Guard security clearance and CAC card

    • Working Knowledge of vehicle communication systems and resources.

    • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local fire ground communications.

    • Must be thoroughly familiar with the operation of all assigned apparatus and equipment.

    • Must be familiar with egress and safety procedures of all civilian and military aircraft assigned.

    • Possess a working knowledge of installed aircraft arresting barriers.

    • Must have the ability to maintain discipline and work under adverse conditions as a team.

    • Possess the abilities to follow directions, to take criticism, to get along with co-workers and supervisors, to treat co-workers, supervisors, and customers with respect and courtesy, and to refrain from abusive, insubordinate, or violent behavior.

    • Must have working knowledge of computer-based programs for daily operations of the fire station.

    • Must obtain Airport Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) certification within 6 months of hire.

    • Must obtain National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) within months of hire.

    • Must obtain Hazmat Technician, Instructor 1, and Inspector 1 within 1 year of hire.

    • Must acquire and maintain a wildland fire fighting training certification (red card).

    • Must support the Fire & Emergency Services Joint Powers and medical transport agreements with employment.

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to pass a medical examination. Must maintain physical condition to perform assigned duties as required per NFPA standards.
