The Department of Corrections, Division of Pretrial, Probation, Parole is recruiting for an Adult Probation Officer 1/2B at the Palmer Probation Office located in Palmer, Alaska.
Job duties of a field Probation Officer include working directly with felony offenders by conducting office meetings, interviews, completing risk/need assessments, urinalysis tests, providing referrals for treatment needs, conducting field contacts, as well as violation arrests. This position may be tasked with conducting presentence investigations and preparing reports for the Court.

You will have the ability to effectuate a positive impact on your community by assisting felony offenders with their rehabilitation while ensuring public safety. You will be working as part of a broad and collaborative team of professionals to include rehabilitative organizations and law enforcement agencies within the community. We offer flexible work schedules after meeting all training requirements, accrual of paid leave, and twelve paid holidays per year.
The working environment you can expect includes supervision of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley extending to Talkeetna, Cordova, Glennallen, and Valdez. Travel is a required perk of the job.
We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any field, or substitution with four years of paraprofessional experience in probation, parole, pretrial, criminal justice, juvenile justice, social services, corrections, criminal investigation, public safety or law enforcement. Special note: At the time of employment, a qualified applicant must: be 21 years of age and a United States citizen or a United States National; have a high school or home school diploma recognized or certified by a state or a local school district within a state as having met that state's graduation requirement; or have a General Educational Development certificate. Possess a valid driver's license issued within the United States at time of appointment.
