    Community Corrections Officer 2 (or CCO1 In-training)Community Corrections Division – Sunnyside, WA.Salary based on qualifications. Monthly ranges: CCO1 $4,603.00 – $6,190.00; CCO2 $5,610.00 – $7,540.00. Minimum starting salary for a CCO1 placement is Step G ($5,338.00/monthly).Shift: 0800–1700 Monday–Friday.ResponsibilitiesWork collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and support effective supervision and accountability of supervised individuals (S/Is) under agency jurisdiction. Duties include:Conduct investigations, searches, issue warrants, and make arrests.Complete intake and administer risk, needs, and substance abuse assessments.Manage electronic and hard copy files and reports.Engage with S/Is using motivational interviewing and principles of effective interventions.Enforce supervision conditions, present accurate documentation, and recommend sanctions.Collect, document, process, and maintain evidence with proper chain of custody.Exercise sound judgment regarding the use of department-issued firearms, safety vest, and other protective equipment.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Required QualificationsAbility to carry and properly utilize a department-issued firearm.Unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in Washington.Willingness and ability to work with individuals with criminal backgrounds and anti‑social behaviors.Demonstrated ability in three or more of the following areas: written communication, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, conflict resolution, situational awareness, problem solving, organizational skill, independent work, flexibility.Education and experience requirements:High school diploma or GED + ≥4 years of qualifying experience.Associate/technical degree + 2 years of qualifying experience.Any degree from an accredited institution.Equivalent combination totaling 4 years.For CCO2 specifically, additional skills include field visits, preparing written reports, making recommendations, referring resources, presenting in court, completing assessments, managing records, facilitating treatment plans, making referrals to resources, using computer software, managing caseloads, identifying community resources, communicating clearly, and working both independently and collaboratively.Education and experience for CCO2:One year experience as a CCO within DOC.Associate degree + 3 years of experience.Bachelor's degree + 1 year of experience.Equivalent combination totaling 5 years.Special Requirements and Conditions of EmploymentFelony disclosure and criminal background check.Psychological screening and drug testing.Completion of orientation, mandatory training, and firearms and CIT training.Benefits OverviewComprehensive retirement options (PERS, PSERS).Paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, personal leave.Health insurance (medical, dental, vision), FSA, DCAP, deferred compensation.Telework: up to one day per week.Equal Opportunity EmployerWashington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, veteran status, genetic information, disability, or the use of a trained guide dog or service animal.#J-18808-Ljbffr
