    Position Title: Freshman Class Council Sponsor
    Reports To: Dr. Joaquin Stephenson

    Club Discription: Class Council is the student-led governing body dedicated to representing our grade, building school spirit, and creating unforgettable high school memories. Council members work collaboratively to plan and execute major school milestones, including Homecoming and Prom. Beyond dance planning, the council spearheads vital fundraising campaigns to lower event costs and organizes meaningful community service projects that allow our class to give back. Joining Class Council is a fantastic way to develop leadership, event-planning, and budgeting skills while leaving a lasting legacy at our school.

    Position Summary:

    Freshman Class Council is dedicated to building school spirit, developing student leaders, creating memorable events, and representing the voices of the Freshman class. Students work together to plan and organize activities that unite students, promote pride, and support our HPHS and local communities.

    The Freshman Class Council Sponsor provides guidance, organization, and oversight for all Freshman Class Council activities. This includes developing student leadership opportunities, coordinating class events and initiatives, managing membership records and finances, and making sure all activities align with Highland Park High School's mission and policies. The Freshman Class Council Sponsor supports students in developing leadership skills, collaboration skills, and promoting school spirit through meaningful involvement in Freshman Class Council and school-wide programming.

    Qualifications

    -Completion of district-required background checks and trainings
    -Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
    -Strong desire to grow school spirit through student leadership and service

    General Expectations for Coach or Club/Activity Sponsor

    • Model and promote positive leadership, inclusivity, and collaboration among students
    • Coordinate/Plan/Organize all Freshman Class Council meeting agendas and activities (including weekly meetings, fundraisers, service projects, marketing tasks, student leadership development tasks and opportunities, and club activities/events)
    • Attend and participate in all Freshman Class Council weekly meetings, events, and fundraisers
    • Ensure all club activities adhere to district and school guidelines
    • Communicate regularly with staff and students

    Work Schedule

    -All school year (and August -- before the school year begins)
    -Weekly meetings
    -Other scheduled Freshman Class Council events and activities scheduled regularly throughout the school year

    Evaluation

    Performance will be evaluated annually by the [Activities Director/Principal] in accordance with district policies.
