    Senior Marine Instructor

    Essex North Shore is seeking a dedicated and visionary Senior Marine Instructor (SMI) to lead, manage, and execute our Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (MCJROTC) Program. As the program leader, the SMI will provide high-level leadership and oversight, deliver curriculum-based instruction, and mentor cadets. The SMI will work in close collaboration with school leadership, parents, and the Marine Instructor (MI) to foster a cadet-led learning environment that promotes leadership, citizenship, discipline, and academic achievement in accordance with U.S. Marine Corps and district policies. This is a 12-month, year round position, with summer responsibilities that include working in the local community - community service, coordinating with cadets and families, and supporting camps, competitions, and other MCJROTC activities.

    Bilingual preferred.

    CORI, SORI, and SAFIS required.

    Salary in accordance with the JROTC Standardized Instructor Pay Scale (JSIPS). Number is posted for reference.

    Qualifications:

    • Must hold at least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (Master's degree preferred).
    • Must be certified as a Marine Corps JROTC Instructor by the Marine Corps Training and Education Command.

    Must meet one of the following Marine Corps service categories:

    • Category I – Commissioned Officers with 18 or more years of active duty service.
    • Category II – Reserve Officers with 20 years of honorable service.
    • Category III – Officers with 8 or more years of active duty service, separated from service for no more than 5 years.
    • Category IV – Active Reserve Officers.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Program Leadership & Compliance: Provide overall leadership and oversight for the MCJROTC program, ensuring full compliance with Marine Corps standards and school district policies.
    • Instructional Delivery: Deliver comprehensive classroom instruction to cadets utilizing the Marine Corps-approved Program of Instruction (POI).
    • Co-Curricular Oversight: Develop, support, and manage co-curricular teams, including drill, rifle, raider, academic, physical fitness, and cyber/leadership teams.
    • Operations & Accountability: Maintain ultimate accountability and accurate records for all MCJROTC equipment, uniforms, and instructional materials.
    • Community & Public Affairs: Organize and participate in community service events, competitions, school functions, and public affairs efforts. This includes engaging local schools and civic groups, as well as managing occasional evening and weekend commitments.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the school Principal, district officials, parents, and community stakeholders to promote program awareness and maximize cadet success.
    • Instructor Mentorship: Oversee shared teaching responsibilities and mentor the Marine Instructor (MI) to maintain an optimal educational environment.
    • Post-Secondary Guidance: Actively promote post-secondary education opportunities and assist cadets with college and scholarship applications.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.
