This position is for an armed Protective Security Officer (PSO) assigned to the Social Security Administration (SSA) office in Wilkes-Barre, PA. All PSOs provide armed security services at designated federal buildings and installations.
SSA Protective Security Officers are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of federal facilities, personnel, and visitors. PSOs perform access control, monitoring, inspections, and emergency response while ensuring compliance with federal security requirements.
Secure federal buildings and government property
Protect federal employees, visitors, and assets
Control access to SSA facilities
Conduct inspections and perimeter checks
Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies
Prepare clear, accurate, and professional written reports
Applicants must possess a current and valid Pennsylvania Act 235 Armed Guard License. Do not apply if your Act 235 is expired or inactive.
U.S. Citizen OR Lawful Permanent Resident with:
Current membership in the U.S. Armed Forces OR
Verifiable honorable discharge from any U.S. Armed Forces branch
Issued a Social Security card bearing the applicant's name and number
Minimum 21 years of age
Ability to fluently speak, read, and write English
Applicants must meet one (1) experience requirement and one (1) education requirement below:
Minimum two (2) years of armed security experience, or
Minimum one (1) year of full-duty law enforcement experience with a municipal, state, or federal agency (retired or resigned in good standing), or
Minimum two (2) years of honorable service in any U.S. Armed Forces branch
High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
Education may be verified via DD Form 214, if applicable
Clean background (no felony convictions or domestic violence/assault charges)
Pass a medical evaluation (company paid)
Pass a drug screening (company paid)
Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background clearance (company assistance provided)
Applicants must possess current and valid certifications. Expired certifications will not be accepted.
Pennsylvania Act 235 Armed Guard License
Valid driver's license
CPR / First Aid / AED certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
All applicants must complete required training prior to standing post, including:
One (1) week of in-person range/weapons training
Two (2) days of X-ray and screening training
All training is paid
Training pay is provided
All uniforms, gear, duty weapons, and ammunition are provided by the company
