The Protective Security Officer (PSO) is a position within the security and protective service field of work. The Protective Security officer is responsible for possessing and maintaining the appropriate certifications and training for areas to include First Aid, CPR, AED, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, Baton, OC Spray, and Firearms. Responsible for delivery of services as described in the applicable Statement of Work (SOW) or Performance Work Statement (PWS). The pay rate for this position is $33.95/hour + $4.40/hour H&W + $1.00/hour Pension.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include performing a variety of security-related duties, monitoring and observing facility occupants and visitors for compliance with Federal Management Regulations, identifying, reporting, delaying, or detaining persons who violate rules and regulations, reporting incidents in accordance with established procedures, providing a summary to on-coming PSOs of recent, continuing, or anticipated events and occurrences for assigned post, maintaining logs, reports, and files of incidents and occurrences encountered during tour of duty, performing duties in a professional manner, being knowledgeable of location and use of first aid kits, fire extinguishers, AEDs, fire alarms, emergency exits, and duress alarms, being familiar with each tenant Agency and location within facility, providing that information upon inquiry, not providing more than twelve (12) hours of combined service on any one or multiple contracts administered by FPS, in any twenty-four (24) hour period, directing traffic (vehicular and pedestrian), controlling parking, issuing traffic courtesy violation notices, and examining surroundings for suspicious vehicles or persons, receiving and utilizing keys and access control devices, and considering keys and access control devices as sensitive assets.
Supervisory Responsibilities include none.
Minimum Qualifications include having a minimum of two (2) years of verifiable experience in a field such as civilian community law enforcement, military service law enforcement, or commercial/industrial security force service, a valid driver's license and clean driving record, ability to pass a Federal background check, U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident, ability to obtain US Government Security Clearance, proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook, being 21 years of age, and a high school graduate or general education degree (GED).
Core Competencies include communication, oral and written, self-motivated, team builder/worker, organized, and time management.
Physical Demands involve moderate to heavy work in all types of conditions, frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Work Environment is generally indoors, office setting. While outdoors may be subject to changes in temperature noise levels. Work Schedule is 40 hours per week as business needs dictate.
Required Skills include intermediate MS Office. Required Education is a high school diploma/GED or better. Required Experience is two (2) years in a field such as civilian community law enforcement, military service law enforcement, or commercial/industrial security force service. Required Licenses & Certifications include a driver's license.
