Performs all security-related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor and keeps them informed of unusual activities and events.
Acknowledges and responds to alarms, determines the source of the alarm, and provides proper assistance.
Utilizes and maintains all issued and operated equipment, including radio equipment, and complies with all applicable laws and department policies and procedures.
Provides initial direction and support in emergency situations, performs facility lockdowns, and screens visitors and employees seeking entry after hours. Documents all crimes, incidents, and safety-related irregularities per department policy and procedure.
Assesses situations with consideration for the age of individuals involved, gathers information pertaining to incidents such as thefts and accidents, and accurately completes appropriate documents in the correct format. Intercedes in disputes, both physical and verbal, using verbal de-escalation techniques, and manages aggressive behavior utilizing authorized training techniques.
Administers initial first aid as appropriate.
