    Your role as a Public Works Technician I - Streets

    As a Full Time Public Works Technician I - Streets with American Fork City, you will operate specialized heavy equipment to ensure the successful construction, maintenance, and repair of various street projects. Your responsibilities will include cleaning and clearing culverts and storm drains, as well as transporting essential construction materials such as sand, gravel, and dirt. Additionally, you will play a critical role in snow and ice control, contributing to the safety and accessibility of our streets during winter months.

    You will also conduct preventative maintenance on roadways and install, maintain, and repair city signs and traffic control devices. This dynamic position may involve "on-call" scheduling from time to time, making it an exciting opportunity for those committed to enhancing their community through diligent public service.
    Are you the Public Works Technician I - Streets we're looking for?

    To excel as a Full Time Public Works Technician I - Streets at American Fork City, candidates should possess a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License, or the ability to acquire it within three months of hire. Proficiency in utilizing specialized heavy equipment is crucial, along with the ability to operate various tools required for construction and maintenance tasks. Additionally, candidates may be required to obtain certifications such as HAZMAT, Flagging, and FEMA and NIMS, underscoring the importance of safety and compliance in this role.

    Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are vital for success in this fast-paced environment.

    Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

    • Graduation from high school or equivalent AND two years of progressively responsible experience in the field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
