    Job Title

    Performs a variety of law enforcement tasks involving frequent public contact and requiring discretion and a comprehensive knowledge of the law.

    Responsibilities

    The Dallas County Sheriffs Department is supplemented by a number of Reserve and Posse personnel who volunteer their services on an as-needed basis. Reserve and Posse personnel are appointed by and serve at the discretion of the Sheriff without any compensation or Civil Service rights and only in a supplementary capacity to augment the full time Sheriff's Department employees. Reserve and Posse personnel are governed by the same Departmental rules and regulations as fulltime paid personnel.

    Qualifications

    The following required documents: Original Birth Certificate Social Security Card Original High School Transcript or Diploma or GED Certificate (not grade report) Texas Driver's License or Identification Card Naturalization Documents (Citizenship). If Applicable, the following: Original or certified copy of college transcript(s) Current Marriage License All Divorce Decree(s) (complete decree) Military Discharge (DD Form 214-Long Form) Selective Service Registration Card of required licenses/certifications for certain positions (i.e., counselor).

    Must be a United States Citizen at the time of application.

    • Minimum Age: Must be 18 years of age.

    High School Transcript or Diploma or GED Certificate or College Transcript

    • Vision: at least 20/70 in each eye correctable to 20/20. Normal color and peripheral vision.
    • Hearing: Normal hearing in both ears.
    • Physical Examination: Must be physically sound and free from any deficit which might adversely affect performance of duty, personal safety, or the safety of others.

    Height/Weight: proportionate

    If applicable, the following are needed:

    Certified college transcript(s)

    Current marriage license

    Birth Certificate Social Security Card

    Divorce Decree(s) complete decree
