(CFR) is an award-winning, innovative law and policy organization that serves primarily Black and Brown families and youth across New York City's boroughs. CFR provides interdisciplinary family defense, assigning each client an attorney and a social worker with the support of parent advocates. The organization also runs a Youth Defense practice, immigration and civil legal services, and offers training to practitioners nationwide.Primary Responsibilities Work as part of CFR's interdisciplinary legal teams to provide high quality legal defense, aiming to keep children out of foster care, shorten stays, promote quality visiting arrangements, and ensure tailored services for safe reunification.Provide direct social work support and advocacy to clients.Conduct intake and client interviews, assess needs and goals, and develop appropriate service plans.Refer clients for necessary services and maintain contact with service providers to obtain court letters.Advocate for clients at Administration for Children's Services (ACS) conferences and other relevant meetings.Participate in team meetings and administrative meetings within CFR.Maintain up-to-date client legal notes and enter data into CFR's database.Professional Development CFR provides intensive, interdisciplinary training on the Cornerstone Advocacy model, the family policing system, family court procedures, client interviewing, and other critical skills.
