(CFR) is an award-winning, innovative law and policy organization that serves primarily Black and Brown families and youth across New York City's boroughs. CFR provides interdisciplinary family defense, assigning each client an attorney and a social worker with the support of parent advocates. The organization also runs a Youth Defense practice, immigration and civil legal services, and offers training to practitioners nationwide.Primary Responsibilities Work as part of CFR's interdisciplinary legal teams to provide high quality legal defense, aiming to keep children out of foster care, shorten stays, promote quality visiting arrangements, and ensure tailored services for safe reunification.Provide direct social work support and advocacy to clients.Conduct intake and client interviews, assess needs and goals, and develop appropriate service plans.Refer clients for necessary services and maintain contact with service providers to obtain court letters.Advocate for clients at Administration for Children's Services (ACS) conferences and other relevant meetings.Participate in team meetings and administrative meetings within CFR.Maintain up-to-date client legal notes and enter data into CFR's database.Professional Development CFR provides intensive, interdisciplinary training on the Cornerstone Advocacy model, the family policing system, family court procedures, client interviewing, and other critical skills. Social Workers may eventually supervise interns, conduct trainings, and participate in CFR's policy initiatives.Qualifications Social Worker applicants must have an LMSW or have an MSW degree and be eligible and willing to become licensed within ten months of hire.Prior experience working in or with the NYC family policing system or family court is preferred.Fluency in Spanish or other languages is preferred.Experience with public benefits, education, housing, or immigration is desirable.Applicants should demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to interdisciplinary representation, and a desire to contribute to a growing endeavor.Starting Salaries Unlicensed Social Worker (MSW): 0 years of experience: $67,1002 years of experience: $69,8004 years of experience: $72,700Licensed Social Worker (LMSW): 0 years of experience: $73,5002 years of experience: $76,9004 years of experience: $81,40010 years of experience: $93,000Salary & Benefits CFR offers a competitive base salary along with health, 403(b), and vacation benefits.
